To Thank or Not to Thank?
- Keep it short.
- Address the note to the person who will be most involved in the selection decision.
- Use the note to confirm your serious interest in and qualifications for the position.
- Maintain a professional tone.
- Use businesslike stationery or paper.
- Orgainize it in a suggested format:
- 1st paragraph: Express your appreciation for interview. Don't forget to mention the date of the contact.
- 2nd paragraph: Personalize it by mentioning that you learned something recently that enhanced your interest in the position or a skill or experience that you were not able to discuss at the interview.
- 3rd paragraph: Reaffirm your interest in the position. Tell the employer that you are looking forward to hearing from them soon.
- Send the thank-you note as soon as possible after the interview.
